Freshwater Grill restaurant on the Macleay River in Kempsey offers guests a delicious, earthy menu focusing on beautiful, fresh local produce and high quality, tender meat sourced from farms of the Macleay Valley. Much attention has been paid to create a dining experience that pays homage to the family, farm and produce.
There are many mouth-watering options available for starters such as Crispy Fried Pork Belly with Pickled Ginger Salad and Soy Wasabi Dressing or Chilled Iceberg Wedge with Stilton Blue Cheese Dressing.
Moving onto mains, why not try Kempsey’s own Bucket Brewery Beer Battered Barramundi served with Salad and Beer Battered Fries or if pasta is your thing, the L-Bo Butchery Smoked Casalinga Sausage and King Prawn Pappardelle with Olives, Sante Rose and Nimbin Shaved Parmesan could the dish for you!
For those with the heartiest of appetites, we suggest the 600gm+ Dry-Aged Viking Cutlet served with Pan Fried Vegetables, House Cut Fries and Paris Butter. All we can say is wow!

Our talented and fun-loving Chef Lloyd, grew up in the Macleay Valley and started his apprenticeship in Sydney in 1986 where he worked the Sydney scene for many years in a number of fine dining establishments.
After many years he returned to the Macleay Valley to open a successful business with his brother Kevin. Fast forward and Lloyd decided to take a much deserved break and venture out to explore our grand countryside on a bike adventure.
He then decided to head back to the pans at our lovely club with a clear vision: to create a high quality restaurant and dining experience that our Valley can be proud of.
He and his kitchen team are extremely passionate about the produce the Macleay Valley yields and design the seasonal menus based solely on the beautiful produce readily available.
